Full-Name/Nicknames: Edgar Humphrey Bones (aka Ed, Eddie or Bonesie). Edgar is for his maternal grandfather, and Humphrey is for his paternal grandfather. Naming firstborn sons in this fashion is a long-standing Bones tradition.

Birthday/Age: May 15, 1956, making him 24.

Sexuality: Heterosexual.

Bloodline: Pureblood.

Occupation: Edgar is a full-time member of the Order of the Phoenix, as he has been since August of 1974. He has a large inheritance to live off of, so supporting himself financially is not a worry. While a student, Edgar had aspirations to be an auror, but gave them up in favor of 'fighting the good fight'. In what little spare time he has, Edgar plays the piano (he was classically trained as a child) and writes music.

Political Alignment: Edgar is a member of the Order of the Phoenix, as he strongly believes that all wizards and witches deserve equality in the world. He was raised in a home of tolerance and respect, and was taught from a very young age that blood purity is irrelevant to the capabilities of a witch or wizard, and that being a 'Bones' does not make him any better than anyone else.

Location: Edgar grew up on the Bones estate in Westbury, Wiltshire; it has been the family home for four generations. The eldest of his siblings, Edgar is set to inherit it when his father passes away. He currently lives in a house in Dover with his wife, Calypso, and their two children.

Family: Joseph and Annalise were an arranged marriage between the Bones and Rosier families, though a relationship that has grown into a strong love for one another. There was a period of resentment (as they married straight out of Hogwarts, at the age of 18) before they began to warm up to one another and started having children. Edgar was born in 1956, and his sister Amelia and brother Jon came along soon after.

Joseph Bones uses his wealth and influence to fund magical research, and often donates to libraries. He also enjoys investing in the start-up plans of entrepreneurial witches and wizards, inviting them to send him their business plans through ads he takes out in the Daily Prophet once or twice a year. Anna Bones has volunteered her time to St. Mungo's for nearly two decades, spending time with permanent patients and reading to children. She also frequently takes on the position of Welcome Witch. Edgar's parents are generous, kind-hearted people, and strived to instill a sense of humanity in their children, as well as humility and loyalty. They always encouraged Edgar and his siblings to treat everyone with respect, because self-actualization comes through understanding and tolerance, not 'entitlement'; that being a Bones did not make them any better than anyone else simply for that fact.

Edgar, Amelia and Jon were close as children, and continue to have companionable adult relationships. They drop one another notes throughout the week, and seek each other out for advice. Jon recently got married to his Hogwarts sweetheart, Sherry, and the two are expecting their first child in a few months.

Edgar married his own 'school sweetheart', Calypso (a fellow Gryffindor), the eldest daughter of the pureblood Doge family, in 1976. They hav two children: Evander Joseph, born in 1977, and Penelope Charis, born in 1979.

History: Edgar's parents always encouraged great things from him, as well as his sister Amelia and brother Jon when they meandered along in the subsequent years. Bright and determined, Edgar attempted (and never failed) to impress, and lead his siblings by example into a world of great accomplishment and impressive capabilities.

Edgar's childhood was happy; it was full of adventures and questions, as he and his siblings were a curious lot, and they soaked up information like sponges. They were close in age, and played together in the forest surrounding the family estate. They fought, of course, over petty and inane things, but all arguments were quickly forgiven and forgotten in favor of a tree to climb, a frog to catch, or a stretch of their collective imaginations.

At Hogwarts, Edgar was sorted into Gryffindor like his father before him. He excelled in charms, defense and potions particularly, and was one of the top students in his year throughout his time at school. He joined the Gryffindor quidditch team as a chaser in his 2nd year, and continued to play until he left school. He was made a prefect in his 5th year, and Head Boy in his 7th.

Edgar had aspirations to become an auror, but was invited by Albus Dumbledore to join the Order of the Phoenix straight out of school after several interesting conversations with the Headmaster during his Head Boyship about current affairs. A longtime supporter of muggleborn/halfblood rights and equality (raised on a vein of respecting people for who they are, not for their 'purity'), he jumped at the opportunity to make a difference in the wizarding world. Edgar plays a defining role in the Order and has not inhibited his behavior after his marriage to Calypso on her insistence. She believes in what he is doing and supports him. His charms expertise in particular are very useful to the Order, specifically Edgar's talent for breaking defensive barriers, altering appearances, and casting powerful, protective spells.

Personality: Edgar is and always has been outgoing--he established confidence in himself at a very young age. He is fair, insightful, and known for providing good advice to those who ask for it. Edgar is intelligent, a good leader, and a quick thinker. He values honesty, amity and fair play, as well as courage and determination. He does not break down easily. He is cocky, talkative and silly, and enjoys telling bad jokes just to get a groan out of people.

Alumnus: Gryffindor, 1974.

Position(s): Edgar was made prefect in his fifth year, and Head Boy in his seventh. He played chaser for the Gryffindor quidditch team from his second year until graduation.

Appearance: Edgar is 6'3", with long, dirty blond hair and blue eyes. He has a medium build, big feet that make him uncomfortable, and occasionally wears reading glasses. He smells like soap and sweat, and dresses in muggle clothes to blend into where he lives in Dover. He prefers comfortable to anything else, typically sticking to jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts. He isn't a fan of shaving, and tends to be a bit shaggy.
